On September 6, 1960, the Semiconductor Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Semiconductor Research Institute) was established in Beijing, which opened the way for the development of semiconductor science and technology in China.
The Semiconductor Institute has two national-level research centers - the National Optoelectronic Technology Center and the National Engineering Research Center for Optoelectronic Devices; three national key laboratories - the State Key Laboratory of Semiconductor Superlattices, the State Key Joint Laboratory of Integrated Optoelectronics, and the State Key Laboratory of Surface Physics (Semiconductor Institute); two hospital-level laboratories (centers) - the Key Laboratory of Semiconductor Materials Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Key Laboratory of Solid-State Optoelectronic Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In addition, there are also semiconductor integration technology engineering research center, optoelectronics research and development center, semiconductor lighting research and development center, high-speed circuit and neural networks laboratory, nano optoelectronics laboratory, optoelectronic system laboratory, all-solid-state light source laboratory and component testing center.
The Semiconductor Institute has more than 700 employees. Among them, there are more than 480 scientific and technological personnel. Including 8 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 30 high-level talents program, 6 candidates for the national "10,000 people program", 20 recipients of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, and 11 candidates for the "Millions of Talents Project". Among them, Academician Huang Kun won the National Highest Science and Technology Award in 2001. There are 3 postdoctoral mobile stations, 4 first-level discipline doctoral training points, and 2 professional degree authorization points.
Hefei Facerom and Semiconductor Research Institute have a long-term and in-depth cooperative relationship in the field of semiconductor advanced ceramics.
